Top Completed!

Wow...the top is finished! It feels good to have it done! I've enjoyed making it, and using fabric I already have (along with everyone else's fabric). As I was sewing I was a little nervous about the proportions of the quilt. Since I was doing my own thing and made it smaller than the original directions, I wasn't sure it was going to work right. After I sewed the borders on, I am really happy with it. I'm excited to quilt it, and really bring it to life!
Here is the link for the quilt-a-long if anyone is interested in getting started!

Rows Completed...

Just because I didn't have a camera all week doesn't mean I didn't sew. I finished sewing the 54 9-patches I needed. I also sewed the 6 1/2 in. by 2 1/2 in. white strips between each square to make the 9 rows. I am in the process of sewing the 51 in. x 2 1/2 in. strips between each row now.
The first 4 rows I finished
All of the rows completed
( I accidentally took the picture the wrong way).
The first row with the white strips
Two rows completed!

Sad to EXTREMELY Happy!

So my camera died after being dropped in mid-transfer. I finished the 54 patches I planned to put into my quilt, but don't have a camera to take pictures of them. The good news is the Cannon XS is on it's way! Thanks to my husband who surprised me, pictures will be coming soon from a very happy crafter!!!

More Scraps....

Here are two more day's worth of sewing (I have another 10, but they aren't ironed). My husband asked, "So is this going to be the never ending project???" Technically, that could be true, but I'm trying not to let it be. I decided to only do 54 9-patches to make it a lap blanket instead of the 70 the original quilt calls for. So far I have a total of 31 (including the 10 not pictured). I have already been through my stash, Lyric's and my Mom's. I hope I can make it to 54! I usually cut my fabric one day and sew a whole bunch the next day. It makes it go faster and get's cutting out of the way. I am still saving for the digital SLR camera. Any advice on cameras, or good deals that anyone knows of????
These 4 I made one afternoon.
These were made a couple days later during Day's nap.

More Flowers...

A friend came over the other night, and we made felt flowers. Here are a couple more that I made. Now, if only my daughter would keep them in her hair!My friend Ani sells hair clips like the one below. Her's are super cute and I attempted to copy her. Mine doesn't do her's justice. Go check her's out and buy buy buy!!!

Scrap Quilt...

Here is the first project I am tackling without spending money. It shouldn't be too hard, considering it is a scrap quilt. Lyric sent me the link to Crazy Mom Quilts blog and what she is doing. The object is create one 9 patch square a day without using any of the same fabric twice (except in the one 9 patch). In the end you will have 70 different squares. I have sewn 7 squares together so far. I'm finding it difficult to only sew one square a day. So I am just sewing as many as I can while Day naps, because I'm sure there will be several days that I won't be able to sew at all.

Challenge...

So I'm broke! I've spent too much on projects, and already have way too much stuff lying around my house. So I'm challenging myself to one month of projects using only the things I have. My husband did say that I could have $5-$10 for the little things like a button or thread, but I'm going to try to not even use that. Join me if you want, and I'll keep you posted on how I do!

Felt Hair Clips...

A few weeks ago, a friend and I attempted to make felt flowers. They turned out, but weren't my greatest creation. While searching blogs for a new project, I found these adorable clips on Make it and Love it that inspired me to try again.

So it was this pink shirt of my daughters
that inspired me to make a flower out of these colors:Then it got me thinking of a watermelon, so I made this watermelon clip:
(sorry for the poor picture quality on this one)
She was wearing pink and brown, so I had to make a flower with those colors:
She has some red and black outfits as well, so I wanted to try a rose. It wasn't the worst attempt. Here are some basic clips out of ribbon only.

Tote Bag...

I have been wanting to make a church bag for sometime. I hate packing a bag every Sunday when we are already running late. So when I saw this little tote on Made I decided I had to make one. I made mine bigger, and used Not So Fancy Nancy's tutorial. I love the way it turned out! I used home decor fabric so it would be a little thicker. It was cheap and super easy! I asked my husband to model it for me, but he refused (I don't blame him).
The Whole Tote
A little pocket for keys, phone and wallet (a must have for me!)
And a cheesy photo of me and the bag.

Skirt...

I've never been one to make clothes, but lately that is all I've wanted to do. I found a tutorial for this skirt at Two Little Banshees. Her skirt has two different fabrics (which I like), but I didn't have a coordinating fabric.
P.S. this really is an easy project, and I mean it!
