Baby A's Blanket...

I've been on my own this weekend, so I decided it was a good time to make a baby quilt for Baby A. She will be joining the family in 3 months! I'm so excited to hold this sweet girl, and just love her! I went to the fabric store with a completely different color pallet in mind, but when I saw this Moda fabric I couldn't pass it up. It was a package set of fat quarters which made cutting the fabric way easy. I quilted it in the ditch using a wavy stitch to avoid seeing my mess-ups.

Scrap Quilt Binding...It's Done!

It's done! I'm really happy with the way it turned out! Now onto other projects.

Scrap Quilt, Quilted...

I finished Quilting! I have a confession...I only do these things for the finished product. I curse my way through the entire thing, but it's so worth it! I had several random thoughts while I was finishing such as, "What was I thinking?" "Why did I do it this way?" "There had to of been an easier way." "I'm not going to do this again for a really long time!" "Oh it's looking so good!" And after seeing it all finished and the edges cut, I really like it. Now it isn't perfect, but I'm definitely happy with it! All that's left is the binding! I think I am going to piece a few fabrics together to make a scrappy binding!

Just Finished...

So I just finished quilting all of the 9-patches. Just a little more quilting to get done now. If I had it my way, I'd sew all day just to get it done. Too bad, my sweet little girl doesn't let me...ha. I wanted to post a link to a super cute scrap quilt that someone finished. I love the way she did the back. I got lazy, and am just using white on the back (pictures coming soon...I promise). Check it out. I'd also love to see what everyone else is doing with theirs...so let me know!

Quilting...

So I've begun quiliting. I struggled to quilt it just like the quilt from Crazy Mom Quilts, because I can't sew a straight line very well. No one else may have noticed, but it would have really bugged me. It took two hours to un-stitch it all, that I decided to go with the normal swiggle line that I do. My sewing teacher told me to use that stitch so people wouldn't notice when you mess up as easily. It seems to work for me...ha. I have finished three rows, and have 6 more to go. It is taking longer than I expected, but I'm enjoying it!

Wow...the top is finished! It feels good to have it done! I've enjoyed making it, and using fabric I already have (along with everyone else's fabric). As I was sewing I was a little nervous about the proportions of the quilt. Since I was doing my own thing and made it smaller than the original directions, I wasn't sure it was going to work right. After I sewed the borders on, I am really happy with it. I'm excited to quilt it, and really bring it to life!

Just because I didn't have a camera all week doesn't mean I didn't sew. I finished sewing the 54 9-patches I needed. I also sewed the 6 1/2 in. by 2 1/2 in. white strips between each square to make the 9 rows. I am in the process of sewing the 51 in. x 2 1/2 in. strips between each row now.

More Scraps....

Here are two more day's worth of sewing (I have another 10, but they aren't ironed). My husband asked, "So is this going to be the never ending project???" Technically, that could be true, but I'm trying not to let it be. I decided to only do 54 9-patches to make it a lap blanket instead of the 70 the original quilt calls for. So far I have a total of 31 (including the 10 not pictured). I have already been through my stash, Lyric's and my Mom's. I hope I can make it to 54! I usually cut my fabric one day and sew a whole bunch the next day. It makes it go faster and get's cutting out of the way. I am still saving for the digital SLR camera. Any advice on cameras, or good deals that anyone knows of????

Scrap Quilt...

Here is the first project I am tackling without spending money. It shouldn't be too hard, considering it is a scrap quilt. Lyric sent me the link to Crazy Mom Quilts blog and what she is doing. The object is create one 9 patch square a day without using any of the same fabric twice (except in the one 9 patch). In the end you will have 70 different squares. I have sewn 7 squares together so far. I'm finding it difficult to only sew one square a day. So I am just sewing as many as I can while Day naps, because I'm sure there will be several days that I won't be able to sew at all.
